Funeral services at Immanuel are intended for the burial of those who departed this life in the Christian faith. The liturgy of the funeral service, which begins and ends at the baptismal font, conveys the comfort of the communion of saints, the promise of the forgiveness of sins, the hope of the resurrection of the body and the joy of life everlasting in Jesus Christ.

Funeral services are normally held in the morning or afternoon, Mondays through Saturdays. Immanuel provides a luncheon after the service for families who request it.

The cremains of past and current members of Immanuel may be interred in Immanuel’s Memorial Garden. Located next to the church, the beautiful garden includes a sculptured cross designed by Chicago artist Richard Hunt and a large stone on which the names of the deceased are engraved.

To begin the process of planning a funeral, we ask that the death be reported to the church office immediately and that the family meet with one of Immanuel’s pastors as soon as possible.
