Stephen Ministry provides a listening ear and a caring relationship for people experiencing a life crisis or challenge, such as:

Stephen Ministers stephenministries.org are trained lay ministers who walk alongside people experiencing a challenge in life. Supper and child care are provided so that parents can easily attend the presentations and discussions. We offer Love and Logic each fall in cooperation with area public schools and with Our Greater Good in order to provide a foundation for healthy families at Immanuel and in the broader Valparaiso community.

All three of Immanuel’s pastors are trained in the Prepare/Enrich approach to pre-marital counseling. Additionally, Pr. Driver offers pre-marital counseling to couples who are not getting married at Immanuel and uses the principles of Prepare/Enrich to shape marriage counseling.
Pr. Driver is part of IN-CIRT (Indiana District Critical Incident Response Team), a group of pastors and lay leaders in the Indiana District trained to help people in the immediate aftermath of a crisis. Trained by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, IN-CIRT can provide a team of pastors and counselors within 24 hours of a major traumatic event. The team sometimes works in conjunction with the Comfort Dog ministry.
