From time to time an immediate need arises to provide specific, unanticipated funding. In 2008, bricks from the bell tower came loose and fell to the entry sidewalk below. We need some quick tuck pointing repair, and the congregation was asked to help. In 2007, we became aware of a family with a wheelchair-bound child living in sub-standard housing (with way too many steps!). So a special appeal to the congregation and community was made, and we raised more than $30,000 toward building them a new, accessible home. When the economy faltered and unemployment rose in 2008, an “Unemployment Assistance Fund” was created to help unemployed Immanuel members keep their homes and get through difficult financial times. 2016 we established a refugee assistance fund as a way to help refugees in our community. Those who are able are invited to share their abundance generously with those in need.
